Design and Display

On the body design, the handset has a display with a centered punch hole while the back is home to the cameras with four sensors and an LED flash. The panel is built with polycarbonate and it has an IP67 rating making it water (up to 1m for up to 30 minutes) which is the same protection the IP68 rating on the Samsung S21 is offering.

Samsung announced the phone in many colors like Awesome Black, Awesome Blue, Awesome Violet, and Awesome White.

On the front, the Samsung A72 has a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display coupled with a brightness of up to 800 nits, SGS Eye Comfort Shield, and a 90Hz refresh rate. The company claims that the phone has HDR10 support, but we are not sure it does.

Cameras

The Galaxy A72 features quad rear cameras of 64MP  with optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultrawide angle camera with a 123° field of view, an 8MP telephoto sensor with OIS and 3x optical zoom, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro lens. The camera has a 30x Space Zoom while the front selfies camera is 32 MP.

Hardware and Software

On the hardware, the smartphone has a Snapdragon 720G instead of the Snapdragon 730 on the Samsung A71. The chip has an octa-core processor clocking at 2×2.3 GHz with Adreno 618 GPU for graphics

t comes with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. There is a micro SDcard slot on the inside that allows you to expand the memory up to 1TB. As expected, it runs on Android 11 OS with Samsung One UI 3.1 on top.
