Design and Display

The Huawei P Smart 2021 aesthetics improves on what we had on its predecessor. These improvements are found on both the rear and front panel.

Upfront, we have a slightly bigger display coupled with bezels that are smaller than we got on the 2020 model. This display is 6.67 inches in size as opposed to 6.21 inches on the previous model. This display also has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 Pixels and a density of 395 PPI.

What’s more, comparing the display on last year’s model together with what we have here, you will discover that the selfie camera was moved from being housed in a drop notch to being in a punch, which gives it a cleaner look in my opinion.

Flipping to the rear, immediately reveals more refinements. We have a longer array of cameras, as well as the absence of a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, which was moved to the side.

The Huawei P Smart 2021 comes in three colors. Enthusiasts will have the option of choosing either Crush Green, Blush Gold, and Midnight Black.

 

 

The Cameras

 

The cameras on the Huawei P Smart 2021 bears one of the major upgrades over the 2020 model. It bears more robust camera hardware, that may appeal to smartphone photography enthusiasts looking for a mobile phone in this price range.

The rear camera setup moved from being a dual rear setup to being a quad rear setup, bearing more cameras, which will in turn bring more features.

On the rear, we have a 48MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.8, an 8MP ultrawide camera hinged at an angle of 120˚ and an aperture of f/2.4. There is also a 2MP macro camera with an aperture of f/2.4 and a 2MP depth camera with an aperture of f/2.4.

Selfies are manned by a single 8MP front-facing camera with an aperture of f/2.0

 

Hardware and Software

 

For performance, the Huwaei P Smart 2021 employes a Hi-Silicon Kirin 710 A processor, as opposed to the standard Kirin 710 from the 2020 model.

The battery was bumped up from being a 3400 mAh battery on the 2020 model, to being a 5000mAh battery on the P Smart 2021, which promises a more screen on time.

What more, the charging speed was boosted to 22.5W as opposed to 10W on the 2020 model. This higher capacity charge mechanism promises will help make the 5000mAh charge faster than normal.

The other performance facilitators include a Mali-G51 MP4 graphics processing unit, 4GB RAM, 128GB of internal storage.

On the software side, we have got the EMUI 10.1 user interface, running on the Android 10 operating system, with no Google Play services.

Connectivity

 

The Huawei P Smart 2021 features a USB Type-C 2.0 port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also features low energy Bluetooth 5.1, and Wifi.

Internet connectivity here is capped at 4g.
