Design and Display

The fact that we are gradually becoming accustomed to seeing flagship smart-phone with screen sizes well above 6.5 inches, doesn’t abolish the need for compact flagship smartphones. Apple understands this and as such made moves to place the iPhone 12 mini in a sweet spot.

Describing the extent Apple went, the iPhone 12 mini bears the same footprint as the IPHONE SE 2020, only with a bigger display at 5.4-inches, as opposed to the 4.7-inch display on the iPhone SE. Apple was able to achieve a bigger display with the same footprint, by opting for slimmer bezels around the display.

This display is based on a Super Retina XDR OLED panel just like the iPhone 12, however, we have got a different resolution and density, which are 1080 x 2340 and 476 PPI respectively.

The iPhone 12 mini’s display also rocks the all-new Ceramic Shield designed by apple to increase the fidelity of the display. It promises 4x more protection in comparison with IPHONE from previous generations. It is basically a layered ceramic inside the glass layer of the display.

Still speaking on protection, Apple didn’t spare water and dust here, as the 12 Mini is rated for IP68 water and dust resistance, which promises Apple fans damage protection provided if the device is submerged in up to 6m up to 30mins.

 

Magsafe

Still, on similar features from the iPhone 12, we have also got Magsafe a feature that first debuted on APPLE MAC BOOK With Magsafe, enthusiast can snap different accessories to the back of the iPhone 12 mini. Accessories that include wireless chargers.

The Cameras

Remember when I mentioned earlier how Apple basically packed in the iPhone 12’s hardware in a smaller chassis? well, that’s fact also holds sway in the camera department. The Cameras on the iPhone 12 mini are the same as the iPhone 12’s.

Its rear camera department bears a 12MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.6 and a 12MP ultrawide camera hinged at 120˚ field of view, with an aperture of f/2.4. This rear camera combo is capable of shooting videos capped at 4k @ 60fps.

Software

On the software side, the iPhone 12 mini rocks the iOS 14.1. It comes packed with all the latest goodies including the newly introduced widgets.
